The meeting was called to order
o Approx 6:30 pm by Julie Garceau
Presidents Welcome
o Julie welcomed us to the meeting.
o Introductions were made since there were a few new people in attendance.
o Julie let us know about a Planning For College sheet that she had about a presentation that was happening at VCMS.
Vice President
o Nothing to report.
October Minutes Reviewed
o Minutes were reviewed and approved by Dawn Frey (1st) and Jaime Rodman (2nd)
Treasurer’s Report
o Treasurer’s Report was reviewed. One amendment was recommended to move the dollars from the Yankee Candle sale from Misc. Fundraisers to the Fall Fundraisers.
o With that one amendment Treasurer’s Report was approved by Andrea Maney(1st) and Dan Greenwood(2nd)
Corresponding Secretary
o Nothing to report.
Principal Tidbits
o Mr. DeBellis said that the school phone directories are complete and ready to be distributed on Thursday Nov 17th.
o School Governance Committee holding their first meeting on November 21st.
o We have received at grant for improvements in School Family Community Partnerships. Mr. DeBellis is looking for people interested in meeting to discuss school goals, literacy, school climate, community resources, etc. He has 2 parents confirmed, looking for 2-3 more. Meetings would be monthly with a schedule TBD.
o There was some discussion on the school’s new detention policy. Why NES needs it and how it is going to work.
Teacher Representatives
o Mrs. Chepeleff & Mrs. Appleton were present as teacher reps. Mrs. Chepeleff reported that she had emailed teachers for input, but didn’t receive anything to bring to the meeting.
Board of Ed Representative
o There was no BOE rep present. Due to the recent election, we are unsure of who our rep will be at this point.
Old Business
o Yankee Candle – Andrea Maney reported this fundraiser was a success. Products have been delivered. Our profit was approx $3,500.
o Family Fun Dance – Lisa Federowicz reported the dance was a success, despite the mix up with the DJ. Lisa thanked everyone who pulled together to help out to make it a great night. We discussed next year possibly using the school’s sound system.
New Business
o Top Turkey – Tickets on sale November 15th – Nov 22nd, with winner announced Wed Nov 23rd. (Update – Congratulations to Mrs. Pelletier who won Top Turkey!)
o Blood Drive – Dan Greenwood is trying to coordinate dates for our next blood drive.
o Pride and Spirit – Sales to start week of Nov 15th running for two weeks.
o Holiday Store – Julie Garceau reported store to be open on December 7th & 8th.
o Butterbraid Fundraiser – pickup for butter braids scheduled for Nov 21st from 3 – 6PM
o Game Night – Dawn Frey reported that Pucky & Sonar will not be able to make it. She is looking for other possibilities.
